SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH ALERT – Prof. Erondu Makes GUU Proud in Medical Technology Innovation!

Professor Okechukwu Felix Erondu, Professor of Radiography and the Dean, College of Medical Sciences, Gregory University Uturu, in collaboration with three others, has produced a Medical Imaging Device that is now registered with the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) as well as the UK Designs Office.

Registered under the International Design Class 24 for Medical and Laboratory Equipment, the device integrates efficient sensing, high-quality imaging, and automatic calibration that makes medical diagnosis more accurate and error-free. This medical device will also elevate optical sensing and reduce minor detection errors that were common with the existing conventional systems.

This feat was achieved through interdisciplinary collaboration involving Professor Okechukwu Felix Etondu of Gregory University Uturu; Onu Matthew Ijiga of the Physics Department, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Prof Terver Sombo, and Dr. Perverga Rex Kubu.

The Team Leader of this technological breakthrough, Prof. Erondu, emphasized that the innovation was inspired by his desire to reduce inconsistent medical results and reliability problems associated with manual diagnostic adjustments; maintaining that the new device will also be used in photometry and microscopy.

GUU Sports Day 3: CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL, a Game of Old “Foes”

When, in the 8th minute of play in the first half of today’s match, the No.8 Jersey, popularly known as “Personnel,” struck to tear the Goalpost Net of Liverpool FC, the crowd erupted with such ovation that many in the stadium wrongly assumed that the end of the game has been ordained for Chelsea to smile home with the vital three points. However, in what appeared to be a balanced game of tactical radicals, Liverpool FC ignited their throttle of revenge to change the rhythm of the match.

And just like the history of its mother-city, Liverpool FC rose from its little background of Fishermen to gain global accolades with an equalizer from Christopher in the 27th minute of play of the same first half. Thus Chelsea’s jinx cracked, and the two masters of the “Beautiful Game” went home with 1 goal apiece when the Referee blew the final whistle .

Through world-class Trainers and Speakers, who delivered from different perspectives on the theme: “Inspiring Nations, Organizations and People Through Media in the Age of AI “, participants were taught to imbibe the truth that Artificial intelligence (AI) can only draft media management plans, recommend good food recipes, and prescribe drugs for personal growth and well-being, but that it is only humans who can decide the compatibility of human socio-psychological needs for progress in all settings.

In his Keynote Address, the Governor of Abia State, HE Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, said that AI technology is now positively affecting how governance is managed, the way news is distributed, and the desire to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance productivity and human well-being. HE lapped on the need for AI contents not to replace human conscience, but to assist in promoting positive information dissemination and social transformation.

In his Speech, the President/Founder of Vision Africa Radio, Archbishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, said that AI technology should not just encourage ideas but must be used effectively to shape human transformation, empowerment of the youth, and the future of a great Nigeria.

In his Plenary Paper on the last day of the training, Prof. Uwaoma Kalu Uche, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin) of Gregory University Uturu, encouraged Journalists to promote unity, discourage ethnic bias, and harmony in the Nigerian society through their stories and information. He admonished the participants to be “Solution Journalists, Members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm”, and not members of the “Fourth Estate of the Wreck”, nor “Journalists who report only sabotage that disconfigure what was never said because of personal partisan political benefits”.
