Gregory University, Uturu has held its first Radiography Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony, celebrating the pioneer graduands of the Department of Radiography.
The historic event which took place at Izima Council Chambers of Gregory University on Wednesday, 13th August 2025 brought together professionals and distinguished personalities in the field of Radiography.
Administering the oath, the Registrar of the Medical Rehabilitation Radiography Board of Nigeria (RRBN), Professor Mark Chukwudi Okeji, who was represented by Dr. Macauly Chukwudi Ejimofor, commended the institution for being one of the four private universities in Nigeria offering Radiography with full NUC accreditation.
He further encouraged the inductees, as pioneer graduands, to carry the double honour and responsibility of upholding the standards of the profession and keep the flag flying.
In her opening address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Cele Njoku, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Regina Ogali, urged the inductees to go beyond mere practice and strive to become professionals who positively influence the lives of their patients, and others in the society.
Delivering the induction lecture titled “Shaping the Future of Radiography and Shining with Purpose”, the Guest Speaker, Elder Ini Ekanem, emphasized that Radiography practice is broad and multifaceted. He encouraged the inductees to become technical stewards and policy advocates in order to evolve into global professionals.
Elder Ekanem further urged the inductees to jealously guard their profession, develop the drive to advance their skills, and become role models for others.
In his valedictory speech, the best graduand, Ogiribo O. Glory, remarked, “It wasn’t easy at first, but I fought battles.” He promised never to bring shame to his parents or the university. He expressed deep gratitude to God for bringing them this far and appreciated the lecturers for the guidance throughout their academic journey.
