EVERYTHING IS SET FOR THE 14TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY OF GREGORY UNIVERSITY, UTURU

Gregory University Uturu, the fastest-growing private university in the East of Niger, is set to welcome new scholars into various programs of the University. A release from the Public Relations Unit, Gregory University Uturu said that the event will start with a “theatrical presentation of Ahmed Yerima’s play “Otaelo” by the Department of Theatre and Media Studies” on Friday, 27th February, showcasing the creativity and talent of GUU scholars, while the matriculation/oat taking ceremony will hold on Saturday 28th February, 2026 at the  Goodluck Jonathan Auditorium by 11:00 am prompt.

The release also urges the University management, principal officers, Dean of Colleges, HODs,  staff members and scholars to be seated at the venue on time. It also promises to be exciting, entertaining, and educative.

GREGORY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW HOLDS MOOT COURT EXERCISE

The College of Law, Gregory University Uturu, on 6th February 2026, held a Moot Court Exercise as part of its practical legal training programme for Law Scholars.

The exercise exposed scholars to real-life courtroom procedures and enhanced their analytical, advocacy, and professional skills. The session featured a simulated court case involving four (4) witnesses and eleven (11) counsel, divided into Claimant and Respondent teams, who presented well-structured arguments in line with established rules of court and legal ethics.

Witnesses gave detailed testimonies, while opposing counsel conducted effective cross-examinations, reflecting practical courtroom advocacy. The moot court was presided over by a judge who ensured proper observance of courtroom decorum and procedure.

At the end of the exercise, participants received constructive feedback, highlighting strengths such as confidence, legal research, and articulation, as well as areas for improvement including time management and accuracy in legal citations.

Speaking during the exercise, the Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Angela Ngozi Chioke encouraged scholars to continue developing critical thinking, teamwork, and professionalism, noting that such exercises reaffirm the College’s commitment to producing competent and practice-ready legal professionals.

GREGORY UNIVERSITY UTURU SET TO WELCOME NEW SET OF SCHOLARS

Gregory University Uturu is preparing to host a landmark academic and cultural celebration as it warmly welcomes a new cohort of students. The two-day programme, set for February 27–28, 2026, will unfold at the university’s amphitheatre and the Goodluck Jonathan Auditorium in Uturu, Abia State, bringing together academic leaders, public officials, students, and members of the wider community.


The formal admission ceremony will mark the official induction of new students into university life and the responsibilities that accompany higher learning. University officials emphasize that the ritual reflects Gregory University Uturu’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and strong moral values.

A centerpiece of the events is the Night of Drama and Music, a celebration designed to spotlight creativity and cultural expression within the university setting. Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, is expected to attend as special guest of honour.


Earlier in February, the university hosted the Rhythm of Love Purity Concert, themed “Righteousness Exalts,” on February 13, 2026. The concert promoted positive values and responsible living among young people and complemented the broader initiative to cultivate an inclusive, values driven campus culture that prepares students for leadership and service beyond the classroom.
