Gregory University Celebrates Visionary Leader And Pioneer BOT Chairman in Style

The entire community of Gregory University Uturu (GUU) was filled with excitement and honour as the institution played host to the former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and pioneer Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of GUU, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa.
In a historic visit to the university on 22nd August 2025, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, accompanied by his wife, commended the institution for its aggressive and commendable growth evident in the establishment and successful running of programme such as Law, Pharmacy, Medicine and Surgery, Engineering, among others.
Mazi Sam also congratulated the university for its unique approach to entrepreneurial studies, emphasizing that scholars graduate not just as certificate holders, but as potential employers of labour thanks to the entrepreneurial skills they acquire during their studies.
He thanked the university for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to continually support initiatives that promote learning, research, and innovation. He further advised scholars to have a purpose, make a plan, work hard, and persevere in order to reach the apex of their careers and life goals.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Cele Njoku, in her address, expressed profound gratitude to Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa for his unwavering support towards the academic and infrastructural development of the institution and the nation at large. She described him as a visionary leader and a true friend of education.
Adding glamour to the occasion, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa and his entourage were first guided to the College of Pharmacy for a tour of its facilities and ongoing infrastructural projects. They expressed delight in the achievements of the founder, Prof. Greg Ibe, especially in leadership, philanthropy, and academic excellence.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts by both the university management and the pharmacy scholars to the renowned pharmacist, in appreciation of his enduring legacy and ongoing support.
