In a heartwarming display of philanthropy and compassion, the founder and proprietor of Gregory University, Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, extended his benevolence and philanthropic gesture to the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Okigwe, as he celebrates the Easter season with the inmates.
A delegation from the University led by the P. A to the founder, Hon. Boniface Ikwuagwu, representing the founder and the Registrar of the University, Mr. Maliki Vincent, embarked on the visit to the center, where they spent time engaging with the inmates in various activities aimed at uplifting their spirits and spreading joy and hope.
The visit encompassed a range of activities including praises, worship, dance, inspiring words, soulful music, and heartfelt prayers for all. The delegation was warmly received by the officer in charge, Mr. Ihezie Blaise Okechukwu, and the chaplain, Mr. Ureh B, both of whom expressed profound gratitude and delight to Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe and the university management for their thoughtful visit.
Following the enriching interactions, the university delegation generously presented the inmates with essential gift items, including food and drinks, three bags of rice alongside a significant cash donation of Two hundred thousand naira.
The inmates and officials of the center shared their feelings of love and excitement, emphasizing that despite the challenging economic situation, some compassionate individuals and organizations care about them.
“We are honored to have you visit us, and we pray that God will continue to bless the founder and proprietor,” they said.
As the event concluded with music and fanfare, many inmates expressed a newfound interest in learning the skill of disc jockeying (DJ) as they danced to the melodious music provided by the University.
