As part of the activities marking the 8th Matriculation of Gregory University, Uturu, on Sunday 16th February 2020, the Gregory University Christian Churches held its maiden Interdenominational Harvest.
The objective of this first interdenominational harvest which took the form of a Raffle draw was not mainly to raise money but to showcase the togetherness of the Churches as one big family and to highlight the ecumenical spirit that is the backdrop of worship at GUU. This understanding is captured prominently the theme of the harvest “HARVEST OF KOINONIA (TOGETHERNESS)” with the biblical reference “How good and pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity” (Psalm 133:1), referring to the brotherly relationships binding Priests and Levites in the Temple and holy city.
The ceremony started 10:30 AM at the University’s Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Auditorium with congregants wearing exciting mood hopeful looks. In his sermon, during the service, Rev. Pastor Davison David of the Anglican Chapel of Peace harped on what holds us together while calling out divisive issues that may put us asunder. Prayers were offered for the good of the Chancellor, Management, Staff, and Scholars and Families of the university as well as the good of our country, Nigeria.
The highlight of the service was the raffle draw/presentation of prizes to winners. The following emerged as winners with these corresponding prizes:

2nd Prize: One Android Smart Phone won Cajetan Ebuziem
3rd Prize: One Rechargeable Standing Fan won Bate Daniel A
1st Consolation Prize: Rechargeable Lantern won Oluebube Ezeyim
2nd Consolation Prize: 7-Days Free Meal Ticket won Onyekachi Paschal
3rd Consolation Prize: 3-Days Free Meal Ticket won Barnabas Okereke
4th Consolation Prize: 1-Day Free Meal Ticket won Emma Nebo
5th Consolation Prize: One Table Tennis kit won Aguta Chukwukamnele
In his remarks on behalf of the University Management, the University Registrar Mr. Emma Nebo praised the pastors led the university chaplain, Rev. Fr. Prof. Cajetan Ebuziem and the organizers for this feat and the transparency of the raffle draw. In the end, everybody left happily in the spirit of ecumenism.
The activities of the day were ended an entertainment Football Match between the Catholic and the Protestant Scholars. The Match ended in favor of the Catholic Scholars with a 5-0 goal score.
Everybody retired in the spirit of no victor no vanquished.
