An accreditation panel from National Universities Commission (NUC) has said that it is impressed and satisfied with the equipment and the ambiance of the department of Geology, Gregory University, Uturu Abia State.
Speaking at the conclusion of the panel’s verification exercise of the Geology programme of the institution, the leader of the team, Prof. J.B Goni, commended the university management for the provision of conducive environment for effective teaching and learning of the course.
According to him, “here in Gregory University Uturu, we observed that the physical location, topography, general outlay, instruments and equipment are quite supportive of the study of geology”. He therefore urged the university management to exploit the opportunity presented by available natural fields to expose the students to constant field trips to assist them in the practical study of the course.
Expressing satisfaction at the quality of the state-of –the-art equipment domiciled in the department, he however enjoined the University management to ensure the provision of constant electricity to the geology facilities in order to guarantee the longevity of the rare instruments.
Responding the Vice Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Prof. Augustine Uwakwe, thanked the team for their thoroughness in executing the assessment, and promised to pay close attention to their recommendations.
